A member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, Ian Marlow is invited to exhibit widely and is regularly commissioned by private and corporate clients.

Being born and raised in a small rural hamlet in Somerset gave Ian the affinity with the natural world that continues to be the focus of his work as an artist and sculptor.  Having returned to Somerset as an adult, Ian began his sculpting career in stone before moving into metal and glass, but his work, whether sculpture, poetry or drawing, has always found inspiration in the natural environment he grew up in.

Ian Marlow is best known for his bold and dynamic sculptures in stainless steel and glass. The shimmering steel adapts to the changing light, creating a fluidity of form that sees his sculptures interact with their surroundings, making them equally at home in traditional gardens or as bold statements within contemporary architectural settings; Ian Marlow sculptures are deserving of their national celebration.

Private & Commercial Commissions

Ian provides a collaborate and supportive process to private or commercial sculpture commissions. 

STAGE 1 – OUTLINE DISCUSSIONS

Meeting with the client to discuss basic requirements. This first meeting is usually on site but can be at Ian’s studio. If a meeting is difficult initially, a phone and email consultation can be arranged.

STAGE 2 – FIRST DESIGNS

Based on the initial discussions, Ian works on a series of basic designs which enable you to visualise the ideas from which the finished design can be established.

STAGE 3 – FINAL DESIGN

Once the final design is approved, a deposit is paid and work on the sculpture itself begins.

STAGE 4 – SCULPTURE IN PROGRESS

You will be kept informed throughout the progress of your sculpture and are invited to view it during the sculpting period and once completed prior to the delivery and installation.
